Learning to write, by re-writing.

I’ve set a timer of 10 minutes to just write this. Time is ticking! ⏱️

It’s been a while since I wrote anything here. Exactly 1300 days, or about three and a half years. If you followed me because of my articles on Cult.fit, or the one on buying a cycle for an Indian city, or the Rahul Dravid philosophy, and were inclined to read more, I apologize. I apologize for not writing more.

Writing has been a big part of my life, professionally, personally, and habitually. I wrote for fun, as a habit, and even for work. I was lucky enough to be paid to write, albeit for analytical pursuits, to write about finance and technology. But writing for the sake of writing is its own joy. It gets things out of your head and onto a piece of paper or a screen. What’s important is not what’s on the paper or screen, but that there’s nothing in your head anymore. Poof! It’s gone. And just like that, you have more brain space and the ability to think. It certainly did for me.

When I wrote, I felt lighter, not because the typing on the keyboard was a cardio workout. Sadly it, wasn’t! I felt lighter because I thought fewer things, the things I thought about, I processed slower, between things I paused more often, jumping from one thing to another only after completion.

Seems simplistic and at times trivial, but it works. At least for me. Writing down ideas, plans, and even plain old thoughts works. It frees up so much. Because I’ve not been making time to write, I’ve not been making time to think, or rather,r have the space to think. And it’s eating me up, forcing me to consume time with mindless activities. Like a fiend does with substances. I don’t want to be that. I don’t want to be hooked onto thoughts, ideas, or explorations. Especially if I have a lot to say (like about joining a place to workout, or cycling). I’d rather spew it onto a screen, format it, and open it up to the public, to you, to agree with or disagree with. That way, at least it doesn’t sit with me, fester, and prevent me from closing the loop on it and moving to something else.

That’s why with this article, I want to just get back. Get back to writing, to thinking, to freeing up time to think, and to lossen the shackles of constant consumption of time with mindless activites.

Time’s up. Hopefully, I restarted the process of writing and thinking. ⏱️
